‘A Little Underwhelmed’
ITB Postgame: Offense Stalls For Second Straight Week
A host of injuries and lack of late-game execution led to the Philadelphia Eagles’ second consecutive loss.
On the Week 4 edition of the “Inside The Birds Postgame Show,” Adam Caplan and Geoff Mosher discussed what went wrong in the 24-20 defeat to the Los Angeles Rams.

Sean Mannion
Adam Caplan: “I have just been a little bit underwhelmed with Mannion, I’m expecting more. He doesn’t control the injuries, I understand that. They didn’t know until this morning that they were not going to have Lane Johnson. But the players you do have, you need to take better advantage of it. I know he’s a rookie play-caller who has been dealt a tough hand, but you can do more…The motion’s very simple.”
Geoff Mosher: “When they’re under center, they’re running. When they’re in shotgun, they’re passing. You’re not seeing anything that’s giving the defense that much guesswork.”
Jalen Hurts
Caplan: “People want to blame Hurts. You’re limited to what you can do, but you want to take advantage of what you have.”
Mosher: “You can’t watch this game and say Jalen Hurts played great. He obviously didn’t play great, he couldn’t play great. The overloads on the right side of the line made it very difficult for them to even get a pass off…But the reason why they’re going for it on fourth-and-2 with a real chance to win that game if they go up 17 is because Hurts did not turn the ball over. On a day like today, with no personnel around you, I thought that was very admirable.”
Run Defense
Caplan: “Their run defense was really good for a while in the game, then they started diving, missing tackles. Kyren Williams got shut down for a while then he got it done, he was really great in the end.”
Special Teams
Mosher: “Special teams was great. Britain Covey had an awesome return that helped set up a touchdown, Jake Elliott made a 56-yard field goal. If you’re going to look for one area of the team that really came through and gave them a shot, it was that.”
