ITB Postgame: Eagles Offense Plays it Safe

Despite another defensive masterclass, the Philadelphia Eagles’ offense took steps back in the 13-12 victory over the Buffalo Bills.

On the Week 17 edition of “Inside The Birds Postgame,” Adam Caplan and Geoff Mosher reacted to the team’s latest win.

Nick Sirianni

Adam Caplan: “You’re a CEO Head Coach…you have to see after a series of events that you’re not moving the football, you can’t run it, you threw the ball pretty well in the first half. Not only did they get shut out, if you want to talk about one of the worst performances in the offense this season, I can’t imagine it worse than this.”

Geoff Mosher: “I thought Nick Sirianni called a conservative first half. It was second-and-long and he was running the ball…Even in the second half when they had a chance to use some timeouts, preserve some time, try to get more points on the board, they did not.”

Vic Fangio

Mosher: “The coach of the year for the Eagles for 2025 starting in January is unquestionably Vic Fangio. He is the reason the Eagles have the hardware. Every button he pushes seems to be the right one.”

Caplan: “Vic Fangio is probably the best assistant coach that they ever had. Fangio is an absolute superstar. This guy is a savant.”

Zack Baun

Mosher: “Zack Baun had two enormous plays. One is he’s covering the tight end down the field breaking up the pass…the second play is he had that hit on (Josh) Allen in the third quarter on fourth down as Allen is trying to get into the end zone that kept the Bills scoreless.”

Defensive Line

Caplan: “Jalyx Hunt is really coming on. Jaelan Phillips as a force defender against the run is doing a really good job. Jalen Carter was a factor, that sack he had was absolutely incredible.”

Mosher: “That’s a good offensive line that the Bills have and I thought the Eagles had their way with it for the better part of three quarters.”
