Time Running Out?

Cox Limited, Two Starters DNP on Tuesday's Injury Report

by

Several starters remain on Tuesday’s injury report ahead of the Philadelphia Eagles’ Week 2 matchup against the Minnesota Vikings on Thursday.

The latest practice report, an estimation because the Eagles only held a walkthrough for the second straight day, again listed safety Reed Blankenship (rib), cornerback James Bradberry (concussion) and running back Kenny Gainwell (ribs) as those who didn’t participate, while defensive tackle Fletcher Cox (ribs) was upgraded to a limited participant after registering a DNP on Monday.

Reed Blankenship

Eagles starting Safety Reed Blankenship has been listed as “DNP” for two days in a row

It’s an encouraging sign for Cox, 32, coming off a strong showing in Week 1’s 25-20 victory over the New England Patriots.

Blankenship is now listed as DNP for the second straight day, while Bradberry remains in concussion protocol and might lose a race against time to return by Thursday night, leaving the Eagles potentially down two members of their starting secondary.

On offense, if Gainwell can’t play against the Vkings, the door opens for Rashaad Penny,  a Week 1 healthy scratch, and also for for D’Andre Swift to see more touches.

The Eagles also waived wide receiver Charleston Rambo from injured reserve.
