ITB Postgame: Some Positives for Birds Despite Horrific Ending

Despite their third straight loss, coming in heartbreaking fashion to the Jacksonville Jaguars, there were still positive signs for the Philadelphia Eagles.

On the Week 5 edition of “Inside The Birds Postgame,” Geoff Mosher and Adam Caplan gave their biggest takeaways from the last-second loss.

Geoff Mosher: “He had them prepared against all odds and 7.5 point underdogs. The Eagles improved in areas where they had been deficient. But he absolutely cost them the game, first on their field goal drive, you can’t line up for Jake Elliott’s field goal with time on the clock. And then the decision to kickoff after they already had a bad kickoff on the first kickoff of the game.”

Adam Caplan: “I’ll grant you that. He’s blaming himself because the players played so hard…I know the coaches are going to be super pissed off on the flight home. Nick could have done a better job of clock management or situational awareness, but the reason why they’re in this game is they’re coached well.”

Jalen Carter

Caplan: “Carter was an absolute man, really just fantastic…It looked like to me [his wrist] is wrapped now. He has been mostly invisible until this game.”

Markel Bell

Mosher: “We’re not talking about him enough. He’s playing pretty good. He had that one bad false start, but they were able to overcome it.”

Darius Cooper

Mosher: “They have to scheme a way to get the ball to Cooper more. He makes plays when he’s targeted, he has to have one of the craziest catch-to-touchdown rates there is in the NFL…the guy is a good player and maybe they just have to get him underneath more so he can use that strength that he has to make more yards after the catch.”

Caplan: “Looking at him in training camp, he has really built himself up. He is a great story of development. Get him the football more.”
