ITB: What to Expect from Eagles Deadline Haul
The 2025 NFL trade deadline has passed with the Philadelphia Eagles making several moves to improve the defensive side of the ball.
On the latest episode of “Inside The Birds,” Geoff Mosher and Adam Caplan gave intel on the team’s new additions.

Jaelan Phillips
Geoff Mosher: “I purposely asked some people around the league about Jaelan Phillips, specifically how his skillset might compare to what the Eagles already have. One guy I spoke to made it a point to say that he gives them a lot more bulk and length at the edge. He’s a 265 [pound] guy. He told me he felt Jaelan was a way better point of attack type player than Jalyx Hunt and Nolan Smith.”
Adam Caplan: “They gave up a third round pick for him, he has to start. The question is, that is Nolan Smith’s side. Phillips can play inside in nickel, that’s very valuable.”

Mosher: “Howie Roseman and (Eric) DeCosta from the Ravens have a good relationship. It goes back to the fact that he had a great relationship with Ozzie Newsome…He said he had good, honest conversations with the Ravens.
Caplan: “Howie knows he’s throwing a dart. Let’s say he’s healthy, if he’s just average, he may be better than what they have opposite (Quinyon) Mitchell.
Michael Carter II
Mosher: “The word I got is that people think he’s small so he can only play the slot. He’s not going to play outside.”
Caplan: “He’s built like a safety. Talking to the Jets about him when they drafted him, they knew his tape showed he played safety, but he didn’t play safety. He’s a little bigger than Avonte Maddox. He’s going to be cross trained at safety.”
