Eagles coach Nick Sirianni said Wednesday that rookie second-round pick Landon Dickerson will make his starting debut Monday night against the Dallas Cowboys at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.

Dickerson starts in place for Pro Bowl right guard Brandon Brooks, who sustained a pectoral strain in Sunday’s 17-11 loss to the 49ers and is expected to be out several weeks while he’s on injured reserve. Dickerson replaced Brooks against the 49ers to make his NFL debut.

“You saw what we did last week, it’s going to be Landon [against the Cowboys],” Sirianni said.

Dickerson, who was sidelined throughout training camp as he continued to rehab from a torn ACL he sustained at Alabama in the SEC Championship game against Florida, had only started practicing in full as the Eagles prepared for their Week 1 matchup against Atlanta. He struggled after subbing in for Brooks against the 49ers’ defensive front.

Last year’s first replacement at right guard was Nate Herbig, who’s still on the 53. Herbig, a 2019 undrafted free agent from Stanford, started 15 games last year in place of Brooks, who was rehabbing from a torn Achilles most of last season. But the Eagles were thrilled in April to nab Dickerson with the 37th overall pick, who league scouts viewed as an elite guard/center prospect who tumbled into the second round because of a long history of knee injuries and surgeries.

“It’s a great opportunity for him,” quarterback Jalen Hurts said. “Another ‘Bama guy in there. Landon’s a great player. He came in [against the 49ers] in a situation where he really wasn’t expecting to come in and play like that, but I think he handled it right.”

Although he tabbed Dickerson to start against Dallas, Sirianni said Herbig’s “got to be ready” to be the next replacement.

“Nate’s got to be ready, just like he was last week, to go in if case anything else happens,” Sirianni said. “It was a good learning experience for Landon.”
