Report: Birds Hire Nickelbacks Coach
Ronell Williams Has Coached With Sean Desai
The Eagles reportedly have hired a new coach for defensive backs to help replace Dennard Wilson, but not fully coach the secondary.
The team is hiring Ronell Williams, former Bears quality control coach who has coached under new Eagles defensive coordinator, per ESPN Bears reporter Courtney Cronin.
Per source, Ronell Williams, who has been defensive quality control coach for the Bears since 2019, is headed to the Philadelphia Eagles as their nickels coach.

Desai, hired last month to replace Jonathan Gannon, was with the Bears from 2013-2021 and coached Bears safeties from 2019-2020 while Williams was a defensive quality control.
This is the first known time the Eagles have fielded a nickelbacks coach job and makes unclear what their final intention is to fully replace Wilson. An in-house candidate to have his title enhanced is assistants defensive backs coach D.K. McDonald.
According to his LinkedIn page, Williams, a native of Chester, Pa., also worked for Widener and Temple football teams, as a defensive graduate assistant. He was also a defensive analyst at Temple.
Williams also earned his Master’s degree at Temple. He was a three-year starter at middle linebacker for West Chester.
