Birds Waive Three
Eagles Make Cuts To Comply With NFL Roster Max
Needing to trim their roster of three players to comply with the NFL’s first roster size deadline, the Eagles waived three injured players on Tuesday, releasing cornerback Jimmy Moreland, safety Jared Mayden and wide receiver Lance Lenoir.
Each of the three waived players will revert to Injured Reserve if not claimed off waivers Wednesday.
Moreland was claimed off waivers from the Texans in the offseason to compete for depth at cornerback but the 2020 seventh-round pick by Washington but an ankle injury during camp kept him sidelined.
Madyen spent most of last year on the Eagles’ practice squad after being signed shortly after the 49ers released him.
With Mayden’s departure. the Eagles have one fewer safety to compete for the 53. Right now. they’re going with Marcus Epps, Anthony Harris, K’Von Wallace, Andre Chachere, recently acquired Umo Amadi, and undrafted rookie Reed Blankenship along with hybrid corner Josiah Scott.
