Dickerson To IR

The Eagles are placing three-time Pro Bowl left guard Landon Dickerson on injured reserve, per multiple reports. Jeff McLane of the Philadelphia Inquirer first had the news.

He’ll now be sidelined for at least the next four weeks.

In a radio interview on Sportsradio 94WIP, Dickerson said he was rolled up on in recent practice. Here’s the whole quote, via John Clark of NBC Sports Philly:

“Honestly, I played like s*** yesterday. I was a complete liability. It was my fault. I should not be out there until I feel healthy. A few weeks ago, someone rolled up on me in practice. Dickerson, 27, struggled in the Eagles’ season opener, allowing interior penetration and showcasing limited mobility. For perspective, per Pro Football Focus, Dickerson was responsible for four pressures and a sack against the Washington Commanders.

Included in McLane’s report is that Dickerson has been playing with “various ailments.”

Dickerson last season battled through various injuries and there were moments in camp when he appeared a step slower than his previous, Pro Bowl form.

Following the Eagles’ 24-22 win over the Commanders, Dickerson vacated the locker room by the time reporters were admitted entry.

In his Monday press conference, Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni lauded Dickerson for his “extreme power” and ability to “move guys off the spot.” He highlighted Dickerson’s effort on Saquon Barkley’s long third-quarter run in the opener.

The next man up is expected to be second-year pro Drew Kendall or perhaps Willie Lampkin — another second-year player — though McLane notes in his report that decision “depends on if there is a change at center and how the Eagles best see the O-line configuration.”

Eagles executive vice president/general manager Howie Roseman, a day after trimming the roster down to 53 players, praised the Eagles’ nucleus of young interior linemen:

“I don’t know if we talked about this before camp, but certainly if any of you would’ve given me a truth serum and said, ‘What are you looking for in training camp?’, he said. “It would be how our interior offensive line depth panned out and the way that Drew, Willie, and then obviously Micah [Morris], keeping Micah. Those young guys and the growth that they showed, their ability to play in the passing game, in the run game. I mean, really, really excited about those guys, about being able to have those guys, being able to develop those guys, but at the same time, have confidence that if those guys need to play, that they’re ready to play.

“I was saying it, our interior O-Line depth, it was kind of in a different spot than it had been in years past, relying on some young guys to take a step. A lot of credit to [Offensive Line] Coach [Chris] Kuper and the guys around him for getting these guys ready to go. Feel like we’re in a really good spot there and it was a concern going into camp. So, excited about those guys and I think you guys watch it and you see that they all have a potential to come in and play at high level.”
