Jurgens Becomes Latest OL To Earn Long-Term Deal

by

The Eagles on Monday announced an extension for center Cam Jurgens, a 2022 second-round pick who was identified three years ago as Jason Kelce’s successor and comes off his first Pro Bowl season.

Jurgens, who didn’t start as a rookie despite being taken 51st overall, started at right guard in 2023 alongside Kelce, who played the last of his 13 seasons at center before retiring, and then slid to center this past season as he helped the Eagles win their second Super Bowl.

GETTY IMAGES: Eagles C Cam Jurgens becomes the latest OL to get extended, signing a major four-year extension.

LJurgens started 16 games this past season and in the postseason fought through back pain so severe that he didn’t start the NFC Championship and then eventually underwent surgery.

The four-year extension, reportedly worth $68 million with almost $40 million guaranteed, means the team is comfortable with Jurgens’ long-term viability after the back surgery and makes Jurgens the fourth of five Eagles offensive linemen wrapped up for the long-term.

Jurgens joined left tackle Jordan Mailata, left guard Landon Dickerson, and right tackle Lane Johnson as Eagles offensive lineman signed to long-term, above-market deals as the Eagles continue their longtime strategy of building through the trenches.

The lone question on the offensive line going into the 2025 season is at right guard, where the Eagles will have third-year pro Tyler Steen – a 2023 third-round pick – compete against trade acquisition Kenyon Green, the 15th overall pick of the Texans in 2022, to start.
