Report: Jurgens Underwent Surgery

Pro Bowl C Had Procedure For Nerve Pain

by

Eagles center Cam Jurgens, a first-time Pro Bowler in 2024, underwent a back procedure Tuesday in Los Angeles to reduce nerve pain, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Timing is everything, however, as Jurgens is expected to make a full recovery. His estimated return is in July, ahead of training camp.

Needing a procedure, performed by Dr. Robert Watkins, illustrates the level of pain Jurgens played through during the Eagles’ playoff run.

Eagles C Cam Jurgens reportedly underwent surgery for a nerve issue in his back.

Although the 25-year-old played in every postseason game, his back pain was severe enough to relegate him to emergency usage in the NFC Championship game against the Washington Commanders.

Landon Dickeron started in Jurgens’ place but suffered a knee injury that pressed Jurgens into service for 27 gutsy snaps. Observing Jurgens postgame, the effects of his back injury was evident.

With an extra week of rest, Jurgens was full go for Super Bowl LIX. He started and accounted for 67 snaps (91%) of the offensive snaps in the Eagles’ 40-22 triumph over the Kansas City Chiefs.

Jurgens, of course, was at the epicenter of an offensive line that cleared the way for 345 scrimmage yards.

Entering the final year of his rookie deal, Jurgens is coming off his best season as a pro after moonlighting at right guard in 2023, his first season as a starter.

Replacing franchise legend Jason Kelce and largely maneuvering under a microscope during OTAs and training camp, Jurgens started 16 games for the Eagles en route to his first Pro Bowl bid.

A contract extension likely awaits the 2022 second-round pick out of Nebraska.
