Coming And Going
Some Birds Back At Practice, Others Not
PHILADELPHIA – Accompanied by frigid temperatures, the 10-2 Eagles took the practice field Wednesday for the first time this week, providing answers to many looming injury questions.
Spotted in the warmup line to start practice were cornerback Darius Slay (concussion), wide receiver DeVonta Smith (hamstring) and wide receiver Johnny Wilson (hamstring).
No sign of wide receiver/punt returner Britain Covey, who exited Sunday’s game with a neck injury, or tight end Dallas Goedert (knee).
Safety Reed Blankenship (concussion) was present but he didn’t participate as he works his way through the protocol.
Slay’s return is a welcome sign, as the veteran corner missed all of last week dealing with a concussion. Isaiah Rodgers, starting in his absence, performed well.
The returns of Smith and Wilson spelled the end for veteran wide receiver Parris Campbell, signed Saturday for depth purposes but waived and, on Wednesday, returned to the practice squad.
Goedert, primed to miss some time, could potentially create a roster spot for practice squad tight end E.J. Jenkins if Goedert goes on Injured Reserve.
When asked about Goedert before Wednesday’s practice, head coach Nick Sirianni said, “We’ll see.”
The statuses of Goedert, Blankenship and Covey will be something to monitor when the Eagles take the practice field Thursday at 2:15 p.m.
