Campbell Signed
Birds Bolster WR Group
Even with starting wide receivers A.J. Brown and Devonta Smith healthy and expected to play Sunday, the Eagles bolstered their receiving corps Saturday by signing veteran receiver Parris Campbell from the practice squad.
Campbell was out of elevations, having already been called up three times from the practice squad while the Eagles were without the injured Brown and Smith. The team opened a spot on the 53-man roster earlier in the week by releasing linebacker Devin White.
For their Sunday game against the Browns, the Eagles will have Brown (hamstring) for the first time since the season opener and Smith (concussion) for the first since the team’s Week 2 loss against the Falcons, along with Jahan Dotson, rookie Johnny Wilson and Campbell.
Also, the Eagles elevated backup offensive lineman Jack Driscoll to add an extra body up front on offense.
The Campbell signing also means the Eagles won’t have second-year safety Sydney Brown (ACL) and rookie receiver Ainais Smith (ankle) eligible to play. Both player on Injured Reserve were activated into the 21-day practice window coming out of the bye. The team has two more weeks to decide on their fates for the 2024 season.
