The Eagles on Tuesday agreed to sign defensive tackle P.J. Mustipher, a former Penn State star who went undrafted and finished the 2023 season with the Saints after being signed off the Broncos’ practice squad.
The 6-foot-4, 318-pound Mustipher played four games with the Saints, making four tackles and totaling 42 defensive snaps.
Mustipher will compete to make the 53-man roster at a young position that features only players on rookie contracts or a Futures deal – Jordan Davis, Jalen Carter, Milton Williams, Marlon Tuipulotu, Moro Ojomo, and Noah Elliss.
Of that group, fourth-year pro Williams and Tuipulotu are the elder statesmen. The retirement of franchise icon Fletcher Cox after 12 seasons left the team very young at the position.
Mustipher, 25, played five seasons at Penn State, logging 145 tackles – 11 tackles for loss – along with three sacks and two forced fumbles. He was named a first-team AP Big Ten selection in 2021 and second-team honoree in 2022.
