Want Moore?

Report: Birds Asked To Interview Chargers OC Kellen Moore

by

Add former Cowboys offensive coordinator Kellen Moore to the list of candidates for Eagles offensive coordinator.

Per NFL Network, the Eagles requested permission to interview Moore, who spent 2023 as Chargers OC but who’s job status is now in question as the Chargers made a head coaching change.

Moore interviewed for the Eagles’ head coaching vacancy in 2021 before the team decided to hire Nick Sirianni, who was offensive coordinator of the Colts.

Moore, a former Cowboys quarterback, presided over the NFL’s top-ranked offense twice in his four seasons as Cowboys OC but was fired at the end of the 2022 season as Cowboys coach Mike McCarthy sought to take over play-calling.

The Chargers finished 18th in total offense – 21st in scoring offense – this past season under head coach Brandon Staley, who was fired.

On Thursday, the Chargers hired Michigan national champion head coach Jim Harbaugh as their next head coach. Harbaugh is likely to bring his own assistants, leaving Moore’s status in doubt.

The Eagles, who just filled their defensive coordinator vacancy, have cast a wide net to find their next offensive play caller, who’ll be tasked with bringing in a new scheme under Sirianni.

Colts offensive coordinator Jim Bob Cooter has been reported as a potential replacement for the fired Brian Johnson. The team has also reportedly interviewed former Cardinals HC Kliff Kingsbury and Texans QBs coach Jerrod Johnson.
