Week 3 Injury Report

Injury Updates As Birds Prep For Bears

by

The Eagles (2-0) will be back on the road again in Week 3, this time against the Bears (1-1) in Chicago on Monday Night Football.

Both teams are nursing serious injuries, as the Eagles will be without TE Dallas Goedert because of a knee injury and continue to shuffle their offensive line with Landon Dickerson still sidelined.

The Bears are expected to be without starting QB Caleb Williams (hamstring), and their backup, Tyson Bagent, opened the week in concussion protocol.

Notably practicing for the Eagles were Smith, Bigsby and Shipley. Smith, who missed a few weeks in August with a hamstring injury, will be the one to monitor most closely. As for Bigsby and Shipley, who both shared the workload last Sunday when Barkley exited early, their statuses are troublesome due to Barkley’s status entering the week. Context is important here, though, as Thursday was the first practice of the week. There’s still plenty of time for the list to lighten in the coming days.

Barkley (stinger) being limited isn’t all that surprising, as the 29-year-old attempted to give it a go last week in the second half but had to shut it down. His status throughout the week will be one to watch. Mukuba (knee) entered last weekend with a questionable designation and accounted for 98% of the defensive snaps. The Eagles are thin at the position, with only Marcus Epps, Michael Carter II and Cooper DeJean (who plays in base) as options. Kenny Moore is on the practice squad, but it could take some time before he familiarizes himself with Vic Fangio’s defense.

As for Greenard (pectoral), the veteran pass rusher has been a limited participant in every practice this season. While no setbacks should always be viewed as a positive, the next step in his progression will be practicing in a full capacity. Until then, he’s likely to remain sidelined.
