Rest For Some Weary

OG Landon Dickerson Among Birds Not At Thursday Practice

by

PHILADELPHIA – The Eagles on Thursday held their second practice of the week ahead of Sunday’s Wild Card matchup against the San Francisco 49ers, continuing their remarkable late-season trend of a (largely) clean bill of health.

There was no sign of LG Landon Dickerson – not out of the ordinary, as the team has opted to give him rest of late on Thursdays – and OL Brett Toth (concussion) was present but sidelined, but the Eagles are extremely healthy leading into the postseason. We’ll have to wait and see if Dickerson has a designation, though I suspect it was a maintenance day. Toth was spotted working on a far field with a trainer.

Returning to practice in some capacity was TE Grant Calcaterra, who missed Wednesday’s practice after suffering an ankle injury Sunday against the Commanders.

The big news of the day was that RT Lane Johnson (foot) was participating for the second consecutive practice. Johnson was the first member of the offensive line to migrate from the team stretch to the middle field, where the group goes through warmups and individual drills. Before the rest of his linemates joined him on the field, Johnson twice hopped through the ladder sprawled out on the field one-footed, switching legs throughout.

On the field nearest to the gate, per usual, it was divided between the punt returners and DBs, with CBs Quinyon Mitchell and Adoree’ Jackson – and briefly WR A.J. Brown – working with DBs coach Christian Parker.

On Wednesday, the first practice report of the week revealed that both TE Grant Calcaterra (ankle) and OL Brett Toth (concussion) were the only players on the 53-man roster listed as non-participants. Limited for the Eagles were DT Jalen Carter (hip), LB Nakobe Dean (hamstring), S Marcus Epps (concussion), TE Dallas Goedert (knee) and T Lane Johnson (foot). OLB Jaelan Phillips (ankle) and OLB Azeez Ojulari (hamstring) – the team on Wednesday opened his 21-day practice window – were full participants.

The second practice report of the week comes out later this afternoon.
