ITB: Forecasting Eagles Next Moves After Davis Extension

by

The Philadelphia Eagles are looking to take care of business ahead of the start of free agency.

On the latest episode of “Inside The Birds,” Geoff Mosher and Adam Caplan gave intel on the state of the team as the free agent market opens and potential moves to come.

Jordan Davis

Geoff Mosher: “Last year, from day one in training camp, you definitely saw him with the weight loss, better conditioning, then the better hand technique, better pad level, all of that really manifested in the season. He became a much more impactful player for the Eagles and he got a pretty big extension.”

Adam Caplan: “It was going to happen this offseason. They know where the cash is going…This is the one I thought was most obvious.”

Jalen Carter

Caplan: “I would be surprised if he’s traded. He is an incredible talent. If the Eagles are willing to move him and get a big haul for him, the other team better be absolutely sure.”

Mosher: “My radar would go up even more if Moro Ojomo wound up getting an extension sometime soon, which doesn’t mean they would move Jalen Carter. But they have every reason to not be 100% certain. He came out of Georgia with some injury history and obvious off-field baggage. While he’s been an Eagle, he has played at a high level at times but also this past year had major shoulder issues that made him less of a player than he was, got ejected from a game…When you also open up the lens here, how are you going to get Quinyon Mitchell, Cooper DeJean, Jalyx Hunt, Jordan Davis, Moro Ojomo money? You cannot pay everybody…For the big money, you have to show it.”

Jaelan Phillips

Mosher: “The teams to watch are the ones that are good and have quarterbacks under rookie deals or like the Seahawks who have (Sam) Darnold under manageable deals.”

Caplan: “If Phillips leaves, they have to add two edges…If they get Phillips back, they still need another guy.”

Jahan Dotson

Mosher: “It’s not a huge loss because of the lack of production. But this guy was their number three receiver when they were in 11 personnel. That’s not an easily replaceable guy.”

Caplan: “You have to have someone of quality. What you would really like is the guy being able to play inside…They really haven’t had a true slot in a while.”
