Dickerson Avoids Long-Term Injury

by

The Philadelphia Eagles and left guard Landon Dickerson received positive news on the injury front. While Dickerson will require surgery to heal an injured meniscus, the three-time Pro Bowler is expected to be week-to-week, according to multiple reports, including NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport. By that timeline, Dickerson could potentially return to the lineup in time for the season-opener. A remarkable turnaround, all things considered.

The impassioned droves of devoted Eagles fans attending Sunday’s open practice, carrying a fever pitch for hours, was dramatically reduced to an audible pin-drop shortly before the double horns sounded.

Following an innocuous sequence during a late 11-on-11 session, Dickerson remained down, surrounded by teammates, many kneeling during the tense and somber moment.

Dickerson, with some assistance from trainers, left tackle Jordan Mailata and Dom DiSandro, eventually stood, beginning his ginger trudge toward the sideline, heavily favoring his right leg. Shortly thereafter, Dickerson would head inside on a cart, presumably conjuring a collective gasp across the Delaware Valley and beyond.

Dickerson, who not only battled a series of knee and ankle woes in college, also gutted it out on the game’s grandest stage: Super Bowl LIX. For reference, a knee injury forced Dickerson to shut it down at halftime during the NFC Championship game. Dickerson valiantly responded, accounting for one hundred percent of the team’s offensive snaps (74) in the 40-22 win. During the offseason, Dickerson underwent a knee procedure, sidelining him for OTAs.

Dickerson, a second-round pick in 2021, has started 62 of 63 regular season games and all nine postseason contests.
