The top free agent for the Philadelphia Eagles also happens to be a major position of need, but will the team be able to re-sign him?

On the latest episode of “Inside The Birds,” Adam Caplan and Geoff Mosher cornered the edge rusher market that is headlined by Jaelan Phillips.

Trey Hendrickson

Adam Caplan: “The average per year, he would almost certainly get more than Jaelan Phillips…If I’m a team that’s trying to win a Super Bowl, I’m all in on him.”

Geoff Mosher: “If you’re a playoff contender that is fortunate to have a quarterback on their rookie deal and you need edge help, you have to shell that money out right now…35 sacks in the two prior years before last year.”

K’Lavon Chaisson

Mosher: “I think he’ll be a cup of tea type thing for certain teams and certain schemes, but he certainly had a really good reclamation time with the Patriots.”

Caplan: “He’s a guy where beauty is in the eye of the beholder. He’s more of a 3-4 stand-up edge rusher. He’ll get some love.”

Mosher: “I feel like his injury history and the fact that he only had a few sacks. His pressure rate with the Eagles is very good, but I think Hendrickson is the only one who has been an All-Pro out of this and Phillips would probably fall right underneath. He’s a little notch below.”

Caplan: “Having him for a full season under Vic Fangio who he played for in Miami, he knows the system. He’s probably anywhere from an 8-to-12 sack guy if he plays for a full season. What you love is he has the NFL body, he has everything that you want, super high character guy, wants to be an Eagle, Eagles love having him. They have made him an absolute priority.”

Maxx Crosby

Caplan: “[The Raiders] are acting like they don’t want to trade him, but Crosby has told people he doesn’t want to be part of a rebuild. He hasn’t asked to be traded, but if you can get two first round picks, (John) Spytek has to move this guy.”
