Roster Tango

ITB: Thoughts on Initial 53

by

The Philadelphia Eagles made their initial 53-man roster official on Tuesday afternoon.

On the latest episode of “Inside The Birds, Geoff Mosher and Adam Caplan discussed the biggest surprises from roster cutdown day.

Kylen Granson

Charley Hughlett

Geoff Mosher: “They know that this is roster tango and eventually the Eagles will have a long snapper somehow, elevated or on the 53, by the end of the year.”

Adam Caplan: “Elevation, elevation, elevation. You have three of them.”

Kylen Granson

Mosher: “I’m not shocked to see that Kylen Granson made it, but there is a little redundancy there. They went with pass catchers, they really don’t have a blocking tight end outside of Dallas Goedert.”

Caplan: “I thought if they were going to keep three, one way or another Granson was going to be on the team. It is very redundant, theoretically he should have been on their practice squad instead.”

Cameron Williams

Caplan: “We can say all we want about how he didn’t earn a roster spot, but it’s not about this year. The pie in the sky is somehow, someway, Cam Williams matures, develops with Stout’s [Jeff Stoutland] great coaching and by year three, realistically 2027 if Lane Johnson retires, that Williams can be in play there.”

Ogbo Okoronkwo

Caplan: “He is a guy who has done it in the past but in Cleveland it was not great opposite of Myles Garrett.”

Mosher: “In Vic (Fangio)’s defense standing up, you have to drop, know your zone, it’s a little bit different. But I thought he had a good camp and is certainly worth keeping and trying to develop.”
