‘Does He Fit?’
ITB: Toth and Other Free Agents in the Trenches
A heavy dose of offensive linemen are hitting the open free agency market, but how many of them are difference makers?
On the latest episode of “Inside The Birds,” Geoff Mosher and Adam Caplan dove into the free agent o-line class.

Jack Conklin
Geoff Mosher: “When you see Jack Conklin at the top of the list, if he still wants to play, he would be a great backup. He has just dealt with a lot of injuries in his career, but if he’s your top swing tackle and your tackle goes out for four games, you’re pretty confident Jack Conklin can help you win games.”
Adam Caplan: “He has played 10 years, averages 11.4 games per season. He hasn’t played a full season since 2019.”
Joel Bitonio
Caplan: “If he’s playing, he’s an absolute star. Borderline hall of fame player.”
Chris Paul
Caplan: “He is one of the strongest offensive linemen the Commanders have had, he’s just not a great pass protector. He’s an underrated guy for free agency.”
Brett Toth
Caplan: “He can play center. I’m fascinated with Stout [Jeff Stoutland] gone, they need two veteran free agents, whether they bring back Toth or not. Toth to me, you have to look about bringing him back. From a coaching standpoint, does he fit?”
Mosher: “I actually think he fits more what we think or project they might want to do with getting more athletic, horizontal movement from the offensive linemen. That, to me, is where we saw Toth function the best when he did in that game against the Giants at center.”
