More Change to Come?

ITB: State of the Offense

With the 2026 offseason in full swing, the Philadelphia Eagles offense continues to go through a massive restructure.

On the latest episode of “Inside The Birds,” Adam Caplan and Geoff Mosher provided intel on the team’s recent changes on the offensive side of the ball.

Jeff Stoutland

Adam Caplan: “The week before, everything we had heard was he’s going to come back in some capacity, then he put out his statement that he’s not coming back. A majority of the offensive coaches won’t be back.”

Geoff Mosher: “This was not a soft firing, this was Stoutland’s decision…I spoke to a couple of people who have close ties to the organization. From what I understand, the Eagles and Stoutland are going to have a settlement because he is under contract technically. The settlement would enable him to not be a part of the staff this year and he’s going to take some time to focus on his Stoutland University, which is training and developing offensive linemen. We’ll see what would happen then in 2027, getting back to coaching for another team, but it doesn’t sound like he’ll be able to coach another team in the NFL in 2026.”

Ryan Mahaffey

Mosher: “The day after the Stoutland announcement came out, they hired Ryan Mahaffey from the Packers who had been an assistant with them. He’s the tight ends coach/run game coordinator. Interestingly, he has never coached tight ends before. They’re bringing in someone who [Sean Mannion]’s comfortable with and is a Matt LaFleur guy. You’re probably going to see Mannion be more LaFleur-ish instead of Shanahan and McVay-ish.”

Landon Dickerson

Caplan: “This is my feeling on it: it’s very for a guy of his stature to retire at 27. But what many people know is Landon has had so many surgeries and it’s really hard. You don’t know about anyone until you walk in their shoes.”

Cam Jurgens

Caplan: “From what we understand, he’s feeling good, but he has to play better. To have one offseason where he’s not rehabbing something, you talk to people who have had back surgery, it takes almost two years to feel right.”

Mosher: “It’s good to have the entire offseason. He’ll be one to watch in OTAs.”
