Draft Needs

ITB: Concerns at EDGE, CB?

by

The Philadelphia Eagles boast one of the league’s top rosters, but there is still room for improvement.

On the latest episode of “Inside The Birds,” Geoff Mosher and Adam Caplan dove into the team’s biggest needs ahead of the 2026 draft.

EDGE

Geoff Mosher: “This is a spot that, last year, really picked up when the Eagles traded for Jaelan Phillips. It made Jalyx Hunt into a better player and made the rotation that much deeper and more impactful.”

Adam Caplan: “Right now, if they started the season, they’re okay…but they’re not trying to do that, they want to set this thing up for the future. That’s why they wanted Philips back. They want an upgrade at EDGE.”

Cornerback

Caplan: “They don’t know who the starter opposite Quinyon Mitchell is going to be past this season. We know [this year], it’s going to be Riq Woolen. But that will not preclude them if the best corner is there, that’s who they are taking.”

Mosher: “You have to be able to have a corner that you believe in, who that you can win games with, who’s going to be cheap on a rookie deal. If Riq Woolen has a good year this year, he’s going to be signed for more than one year at $12 million, so it’s going to be tough for the Eagles to even retain him.”

Offensive Tackles

Mosher: “There are a lot of high upside guys who just need a little bit of seasoning…they’re the perfect kind of guy to sit a year if you need them to behind Lane Johnson and then by year two really become that guy.”

Safety

Caplan: “Next to (Drew) Mukuba, they don’t have anyone. It’s Michael Carter, it’s (Marcus) Epps, JT Gray is a special teams player only…They can address it next year, but it’s a significant future need.”
