Eagles Lose Dillard For Season; Peters Back To LT?

by

With the news that the Eagles have lost starting LT Andre Dillard for the season due to a torn biceps tendon, the team’s depth on the offensive line is going to take a hit. They also lost starting RG Brandon Brooks (torn Achilles tendon) earlier in the off season.

Third-year OT Jordan Mailata, who has worked in practice as the top backup LT, replaced Dillard in practice Thursday although he has also seen time at right tackle in this year’s camp and in year’s past.

However, Mailata, a 7th-round pick in 2018, has yet to play in a regular season game and finished both of his previous seasons on IR.

Mailata, 6-8, 340+, is highly thought of by the coaches, especially OL coach Jeff Stoutland and also the front office, but the feeling around the team is that they’ll move Jason Peters back to his usual LT spot (he’s at RG now) and move third-year RT/G Matt Pryor in at RG.

Should they decide to bring in depth from the free agent market at LT, the top choices available are:

Donald Penn
Cordy Glenn
Jared Veldheer (can also play RT)
Chris Clark
Marshall Newhouse (RT/LT)
J’Marcus Webb (G, RT, LT)

As for guard, the best available are:

Ronald Leary
Josh Kline
John Jerry
Ted Larsen (C)
Kevin Pamphile
Earl Watford
