One More Year – Again

Report: Birds Ink Dallas Godert To Another 1-Year Pact

by

The Eagles retained their third in-house free agent, agreeing to terms with tight end Dallas Goedert Sunday afternoon on a one-year deal, a league source confirmed the initial report from NFL Media.

Goedert, 31, achieved career highs last season in receptions (60) and receiving touchdowns (11). Goedert’s 56 career postseason receptions are the most in team history, while his 595 receiving yards place him second.

The Eagles twice extended the window on the void date of Goedert’s contract while the two sides negotiated — keeping the veteran tight end off the free-agent market — to avoid a massive dead cap hit of more than 20 million, the resolution occurring a day before Monday’s deadline.

The NFL Media report added that Goedert had “other options on the table” but delaying the contract void kept Philadelphia, where he spent his first eight seasons, in play.

GETTY IMAGES: Eagles TE Dallas Goedert is reportedly back on another 1-year deal for his ninth pro season.

With an agreement reached, the Eagles retain their top tight end and avoid the great unknown by searching for his replacement atop the depth chart.

Goedert, who has established a strong on-field rapport with quarterback Jalen Hurts over the years, was a prominent fixture last season in the Eagles’ red zone plans. While the blocking element of Goedert’s game regressed in 2025, the South Dakota State product is expected to have a sizeable impact on the passing game under new offensive coordinator Sean Mannion.

While it’s worth noting that there are certainly unknown variables as to what the Eagles’ offense will ultimately look like under Mannion, many of his influences extensively incorporate the tight end.

The Eagles selected Goedert 49th overall all in the 2018 NFL Draft. Goedert officially took over as the team’s top tight end during the 2021 season, when the team traded away Zach Ertz. In 108 games (91 starts), Goedert compiled 409 receptions for 4,676 yards and 35 touchdowns. His 787 offensive snaps in 2025 were second only to that of 2023, when he totaled 809.
