(Almost) All Hands On Deck

Grant Calcaterra Only Eagle Not At Practice

by

PHILADELPHIA – The Eagles took to the practice field Thursday for their second of three practices this week, days before their Week 5 tilt with the Denver Broncos at Lincoln Financial Field.

Thursday’s session continued with a trend of promising injury news, as RT Lane Johnson (shoulder), DT Jalen Carter (shoulder), TE Dallas Goedert (knee), CB Adoree’ Jackson (groin) and LB Nakobe Dean (knee) were all practicing in some capacity. Goedert, who missed Wednesday’s practice, returned, seemingly trending in the right direction.

In other tight end news, there was no sign of fourth-year pro Grant Calcaterra. The official injury report will be released later today, providing further clarity.

Jackson, typical for a Thursday practice, joined fellow cornerback Quinyon Mitchell and defensive backs coach Christian Parker on a separate field to hone in on ball-centric drills. It’s worth noting that this period occurs simultaneously with special teams drills, which is where Kelee Ringo – a critical third phase contributor – is initially grouped.

Dean, who on Wednesday had his 21-day window opened, again participated, even leading off a strip-drill circuit in which players strikes a dummy with a focus on dislodging the football.

A pair of injured players, WR Darius Cooper (shoulder) and CB Jakorian Bennett (pectoral injury), were spotted working on a side field. Both players were placed on injured reserve on Sept. 24.

As the practice squad churns

The Eagles on Thursday afternoon announced more practice squad moves, releasing CB Eli Ricks and OLB Antwuan Powell-Ryland. Ricks has been on and off the practice squad over the first four weeks, and Powell-Ryland signed Wednesday.

In a corresponding move, the team signed DT Jacob Sykes and DE K.J. Henry to fill the vacancies. Sykes spent training camp with the Eagles, in addition to a day on the practice squad last month, while Henry, most recently part of the Browns’ practice squad, was a member of the 2024 Eagles’ practice squad.
