Steen Returns

OG Back In Pads At Birds Camp

by

The Eagles appear to be improving from a health standpoint as they practiced Monday for the second straight day and were back in pads after Sunday’s “yellow” practice.

Right guard Tyler Steen, who’s been out since the first week of camp with an ankle injury, was back at practice along with some others who were out Monday.

With both Steen and Becton back, the Eagles have both guards who’ve taken the most reps at right guard on the first team, although both are limited so it’s possible Brett Toth continues to see first-team reps at right guard.

The Eagles also made a transaction, signing former Jaguars inside linebacker Shaq Quarterman, who played 63 games for Jacksonville for four season, almost exclusively on special teams.

The Eagles have been missing veteran linebacker Oren Burks since camp’s first practice, when he suffered a knee injury.

To make room for Quarterman, the Eagles waived interior offensive lineman Jason Poe, who had been getting his reps on the third team.

Eagles defensive coordinator Vic Fangio spoke before practice and noted, among other things, that inside linebacker Nakobe Dean”took a step back” at Thursday’s open practice at the Linc after having some good practices.

Fangio also said he tried to convince the Eagles last year to trade defensive tackle Milton Williams to the Dolphins but Eagles personnel chief Howie Roseman wouldn’t make the deal. Fangio was Miami’s defensive coordinator last season.

Stay tuned for Andrew DiCecco’s post-practice observations later this afternoon.

Good thing Vic didn’t get that Milton trade done! And if he had, would he have tried to get the dolphins to trade him back?? 😂
