Birds Gear Up For Finale

by

PHILADELPHIA – Following an early morning New Year’s Day snow shower, the Eagles conducted their Thursday practice inside the dry confines of their indoor facility.

Not practicing for the Eagles on this day were RT Lane Johnson, TE Dallas Goedert, LB Nakobe Dean and OLB Jaelan Phillips. With the Eagles resting many prominent starters Sunday afternoon, the four players listed are not expected to play.

The Eagles on Wednesday held a walkthrough, and the estimated report included the following designations: Johnson (foot), Goedert (knee), Dean (hamstring) and Phillips (ankle).

The indoor facility presents a different viewing perspective. As such, safeties Reed Blankenship and Marcus Epps were working on defending routes near the closest end zone, with former Eagles tight end running routes on air as Blankenship and Epps took turns in coverage with safeties coach Joe Kasper presiding over the drill.

Simultaneously, along a near sideline, defensive backs coach Christian Parker worked with defensive backs Quinyon Mitchell, Adoree’ Jackson and Cooper DeJean, drilling the trio on footwork and details, each drill punctuated by Parker lobbing them passes.

The last period open to the media was circuit-centric, with drills on each side of the field.

Roster move: The Eagles activated rookie sixth-rounder T Cameron Williams from the injured reserve list. Williams (shoulder), who had originally been placed on injured reserve on Sept. 13, had his practice window opened on Dec. 11. The Texas product is in line to play his first NFL snaps Sunday against the Commanders.
